Puff the magic baby food
Finger foods are the dream and the nightmare of most parents. Once your kid starts to eat them, you think, "great now what the hell do I give them that they can't kill themselves on?" With my first son, we did the normal stuff, Cheerios, cubed avocados, cereal bars and crackers that would melt on contact when combined with spit. But I never knew about the mecca of all finger foods until Jacoby was born. Puffs.
Gerber was the first to introduce these miracle of miracles. They come in a variety of flavors, and they offer both fruit and veggie puffs. But here's the kicker. They are pretty sweet. Even the veggie variety. And there are a shitload of additives in them.
Check out the amount of crap in these "healthy" buggers. Here's what you can find in the Banana Puffs.
ALPHA TOCOPHERYL ACETATE (VITAMIN E), ELECTROLYTIC IRON, VANILLA EXTRACT, CARAMEL COLOR, TURMERIC EXTRACT COLOR."
OK, I've admitted in a previous post that I do give my kids sugar, but for the most part it's in baked goods that my husband makes, so we know where it's coming from. I give my kids stuff that has crap in it, but that being said, I try to keep the crap feeding to a minimum. So when reading these labels, I vowed not to give my baby this stuff again. BUT IT'S SO GREAT WHEN YOU ARE ON THE GO!!!!! So what the hell do am I supposed to do. Not to mention my son LOVES THEM!
Enter Happy Baby. They are a great organic baby food company. I made my own baby food for both my boys, so finding a company that makes fresh, frozen fruits and veggies for little ones was a great find. But now Happy Baby has grown...BIG TIME. They make a variety of toddler foods, frozen "dinners" and snacks, and yes, they even make Puffs. And for the most part, they are amazing!

But how do they taste? Well, I will say that if your child has had the Gerber ones prior to trying these they may take some getting used to. They don't have the intense flavor boost of the leading brands, but they are clearly a better puff all around because they melt much faster when coming in contact with saliva and they lack all the chemical additives. They are a bit bland for my taste but I have to say that they do grow on you. My son now likes them more than the Gerber ones.
