"Life Will Be Peaches and Cream" - Brittany and Josh's Chelsea Hotel Atlantic City Wedding
Some of the happiest moments of my childhood were spent in Atlantic City New Jersey. Nothing stopped my mom and her friends from packing up the car and heading down the pike to the Jersey Shore. I went there WAAAYYYY before there was a notion for planting those stupid casinos. (They really ruined everything about Atlantic City, ask anyone who went before they ever existed) That city holds such nostalgia for me that I can't even put it into words. I remember going on the rides at Million Dollar Pier, I loved the freak show and the gorilla lady at Steeplechase Pier, and yes, I even saw the Diving Horse Show at Steel Pier too. Steels Fudge, Mac Fries, hours of Skeeball and frozen custard after long hard days of making drip castles. Those were the days. I hadn't been back there in about 20 years or so, that is until Brittany and Josh came into my life. Brittany is actually my cousin by marriage. (She is my Stepmother's niece) We hadn't seen one another in probably 15 years, maybe more when we were reunited at a funeral, of all places. We reconnected almost immediately and I felt like I had this new family in my life. I met her boyfriend, Josh, who was charming, funny and super good looking. After the funeral I headed back to Boston and the three of us stayed in touch via Facebook. (typical I know)
One day I got a post from Brittany that she and Josh were engaged. I began to step it up and tell them that I wanted to shoot their wedding more than anything. They hired me and came up to Boston for a weekend filled with food, fun and an engagement session to boot.
Brittany and Josh were married on December 1st 2012 at The Chelsea Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. When I arrived on the afternoon before their wedding, the first thing I did was take a walk on the boardwalk. The weather was balmy for December and I wanted to take full advantage of it. The minute I stepped foot onto the wood planks I was 5 years old again. The smell of the sea, mixed with the wood of the boardwalk brought tears to my eyes. Even though Atlantic City was completely different from what I remember, the aroma was exactly what I remembered as a child. I thought to myself, 'This is a great way to start off a wedding for me.'
Here are some samples from Brittany and Josh's amazing wedding.
