A Perfect Pinecone Affair - The wedding of Kat and Chris at Willowdale Estates
I figured that with the insane amount of heat this summer, it may be fun to post a winter wedding. (Who am I kidding, I am a bit behind on blogging. But it sounds good right?) Kat and Chris came to my home office last year and a meeting that was only supposed to last about an hour turned into almost three! They live in my town so not only did we hit it off but we hang out on a regular basis now! Actually Kat has plans to go swimming with me this Friday.:-)
They met in front of a soda machine at a college party. Chris was dilly dallying, unable to make a choice on what to drink. Kat stood there watching this guy fumbling around for what seemed like forever. Finally Chris put his money in the machine and picked a can of iced tea. When the can exited the machine, Kat simply said, "Hmmm....guess iced tea was a good choice". And since that moment they have been together ever since. Cute right?
They booked me on the spot and we started discussing their engagement session and wedding. Kat told me she was obsessed with pine cones and so we instantly created a Pinterest Board that helped her create a look for her florist complete with pine cone bouquets and cake toppers. Since Chris and Kat are both self proclaimed "tree huggers" we incorporated that into their engagement session and it made complete sense why they chose The Willowdale Estate for their wedding location. Have you been there? Seriously consider it for your wedding! It's awesome.
Kat and her lovely bridesmaids sported Ugg boots which made for a comfortable walk to the forest for formals. The opted for a first look, which as you can see, ended up in a blindfolded fiasco. From there, they did something so out of the ordinary and magical. They said private vows to one another that no one would hear but them. (and me cause I was lucky enough to capture it on camera) It was extremely emotional for both of them. I didn't hear anything because I photographed it with a very long lens to provide them the utmost privacy. However I was chuckling the entire time because they read the vows from their smartphones.
Kat's father was unable to attend their wedding so he was Skyped in and carried around via Macbook directly from Columbia! Hilarious and ingenious if you ask me. That computer was everywhere! Even the dance floor. After an amazing dinner and heaps of dancing, the Willowdale put out a spread of serious munchie foods including fresh fried potato chips with dipping sauces, two kinds of french fries, sliders, and hot chocolate chip cookies to boot. Hello.....YUM!
So without further ado, say hello to Kat and Chris.
