Pretty in Pink - Kara and Justin's Bourne Farm Cape Cod wedding
Kara & Justin had a beautiful Cape Cod wedding on August 24, 2013 with a ceremony and reception at Bourne Farm in West Falmouth, MA. My second shooter, Meg Belanger, and I arrived the day before the big event to scout out Bourne Farm. We ended up sorta crashing their clam bake/rehearsal dinner but it was ended up working out because Kara and Justin, not only knew that we had arrived safely, but they could give us a tour of Bourne Farm. That place is off the hook. Beautiful in every way. I think my mouth stayed open the entire time.
The next day Meg drove over to the hotel where the boys were staying and I headed over to Kara's childhood summer home, where her family and bridesmaids were helping her to get ready. I seriously could not stop taking photos of Kara's pink Vera Wang dress. I was obsessed with it.
The couple opted for a first look which I was all for, and they chose to go to this bike path where the two of them hung out as kids. It went great although I can't tell you how many people they knew when we were doing it. Everyone was stopping them and talking to them. It was hilarious. I think they could run for mayor at this point because it seems like everyone not only knew them but had a story about them. After the first look, Kara and Justin and the bridal party hopped on a trolley and headed out to a local beach, the Bowermans Beach Club. This was another childhood location for them. Shot more formals there and I have to say I loved all the beach-goers checking out what was going on.
After that, we headed to Bourne Farm where Kara's brother, Colin Doyle, held the wedding service. Flowers were from Brick Kiln Farm and they blended perfectly with the space. Then it was cocktails and an insane reception. Food was provided by Eat your Heart Out Caterers, tables & linens from New England Country Rentals And the cake! Kara's cake, created by Delicious Deserts, was pretty much was a duplicate of her wedding dress and then the couple opted for a dessert table instead of just a wedding cake.
Both families were very involved. Kara's sister's toast made her cry and her father, brother and a good friend of the couple surprised them and sang, played keyboards and guitar. After, the music was flowing all night by Cape Tunes DJ and I have to say the dancing at this wedding was really fun, they even did a conga line. The night ended with a sparkler send off, the first time I was able to shoot something like this and it was perfect.
I loved everything about this wedding. Kara's attention to detail was a photographer's dream come true. But Kara and Justin are good like that. You guys, I promise I will get my booty to the North End soon so we can hang out and catch up.
