Alone at Last - Steve and Julianna's Boston City Hall Elopement
Julianna and Steve were married in a Boston City Hall elopement on April 14, 2014, and I was so honored to be there to capture this special, intimate day.
The couple met online, and it was instant attraction—crazy head over heels. For their 2nd date, they went on a mini vacation to DC (July 4th weekend), and during their 2nd month together, they started looking at houses and bought one together. On December 1, Steve proposed!
The morning of the marriage, I met Julianna and Steve at the Omni Parker Hotel in downtown Boston, where they were getting ready. It was very quiet when I arrived and found just the two of them preparing for the day. While Julianna got dressed, I followed Bill as he practiced his vows. Then we went back to their room so he could see her dressed for the first time and they could have a little champagne and cake to celebrate.
After we left the hotel, but before heading off to City Hall, we made a pit stop at Sweet Cupcake shop and had a little snack—it was a perfect pit stop. We took some formals on the way before we finally made it to City Hall.
Their ceremony was so sweet. Steve really let his heart sing and shed a few tears during his vows to Julianna. I also loved the personal touches: Julianna snuck a little packet of tissues in a cute, handmade pouch that her kids made for the ceremony. It was beyond moving for me to watch the two of them be so vulnerable.
After the ceremony, it was more walking around Boston and lots of time spent together. They really let me see who they are, and I loved that. My favorite part was when Julianna pulled out a mustache and glasses to look just like Bill. They were so happy all day, and it showed in every image.
Thank you, Julianna and Steve, for letting me be a part of this special moment. I can't wait to see you soon!
