The Morning After
I have always loved the idea of capturing what happens to the bride and groom the morning after their wedding. What does the hotel room look like? Do they eat breakfast? Do they talk? Are they hung over? Do they even make it to bed that night? Do they have that morning after look...like, wow, we are married and we did it!? I travel for weddings from time to time and I decided to offer a new option for my couples staying in a nearby hotel: a "Morning After Shoot".
I had shot Kym and Antonio's wedding the day before in Connecticut. Because we were both staying at Foxwoods Casino and I knew I totally connected with this amazing couple - I suggested this “morning after” session. The resulting images really blew my mind! They let me in. Their room was trashed, they were so relaxed and happy. They ordered room service, ate leftover wedding cake in bed, read the paper, and just took in what had happened to them. They were married...husband and wife. The goal is to tell the story, it's not sexual in any way. It's about a calm and peaceful vibe that surrounds the couple the next day. The pressure is off..the party is over and now, life can begin.
I feel lucky to have built relationships with my couples that this is something they feel comfortable doing. The whole thing came from an organic place. I suggested nothing. I was just there to tell the story. It all felt right. That they trusted me enough to have me come in to their room and just be there - at this moment in time. It actually says just as much to me about them as their wedding, maybe more.
Thank you Kym & Antonio for letting me capture this special space! And to my future bride & grooms, let me know if this is something that you would be interested in adding on to your wedding package.
