Sea of Love - Lauren and Chris’ Nauticus Marina Wedding
On July 26, 2014, Lauren and Chris got married with a ceremony at the Our Lady of Victory Church followed by a reception at the Nauticus Marina in Osterville, MA on Cape Cod.
Lauren's brother Kyle used to work with Chris. Kyle always talked about Chris to Lauren but never made an attempt at setting them up. Kyle eventually left the company, and Chris took over his job, so they kept in touch. Kyle forced Chris to attend a social charity event that Lauren was hosting. At the event, Chris and Lauren finally met and shared a couple shots together but never really talked. Luckily, Chris emailed her the next day! (She was convinced Kyle again forced him to do this, but he didn't.) They met up that week for a drink, and the rest is history!!!!
Chris proposed on a boat; sadly, the boat wasn’t moving because it died before they ever got out of the marina, but it was still perfect for them. Their love of boats is why they decided to have a Nauticus Marina wedding.
On the day of the wedding, both Chris and Lauren and their bridal party got ready at the Double Tree hotel in Hyannis, MA. I hung out with Lauren and her family while my second shooter, Vanessa Walsh, hung with the guys. The couple decided not to do a first look, so we headed over to the church for the ceremony after about an hour of getting ready photos.
By the time we headed out to the Marina for the reception, it had begun to rain. It held out a little so we could get some formal photos done, but I was really bummed because I wanted to take advantage of the unique location. The rain really started to pick up, and I thought, “Well, at least we got some good ones before the weather took a dump on us.”
Right after dinner started, I looked out over the tent, and low and behold . . . THE MOST AMAZING SUNSET appeared out of nowhere. Lauren, Chris and her guests all headed outside to the dock and took in the view. All her friends and family allowed me to capture all of this, and I have to say, they are probably the best sunset photos I've captured to date. I even captured the couple taking a sunset selfie—I love how it came out!
The flower girls and the ring bearer were the most amazingly adorable kids, and I have tons of photos of them. The band, Men in Black II, got Lauren and all her bridesmaids up on stage and made them sing and then did the same with Chris and his groomsmen. They all played instruments and let loose big time. It was a great time!
Lauren and Chris, thank you so much for letting me capture a part of your history. I just loved your friends and family so much.
