Zoe becomes a Bat Mitzvah - Newton MA Mizvah Photographer
I have known Zoe's mother, Shawna, FOREVER. We used to dance together back in Philly. Then, she used to wait tables while I bartended. We would go clubbing together and kill it on the dance floor. And, as it happens, life moved on, and we lost touch.
I had no clue she even lived in Boston until a couple years ago, when I found her living about 20 minutes from me here in Massachusetts. We got together one morning, and believe me when I tell you we caught up until late that afternoon. As I was leaving, she asked me if I would shoot her daughter Zoe's Bat Mitzvah. I knew that this would be an epic party for sure, and just like that, I was working with Shawna again!
Zoe is a beautiful, smart, kind, and generous young lady who, I might add, happens to be the most insanely amazing dancer ever! During her practice session, I got to meet all her best dancer buddies, and I have to say that there was something so powerful about photographing my dancer friend's dancing daughter. Talk about generations.
On Zoe's actual Bat Mitzvah day in December, I arrived at her house in the early afternoon and just documented the day—getting ready, snapping some formals of Zoe and her brother, Jake. Then, my second shooter Vanessa Walsh and I ran to Temple Beth Avodah to do some family formals and even a few minutes of Zoe practicing with the Rabbi. I was able to photograph the Havdalah, which was absolutely beautiful. (Nothing like shooting in candlelight.) And then...DANCING. Lots and lots of dancing. Zoe's friends all made speeches about what an amazing friend she is, and her parents showered her with love.
Zoe, you are the best! I adore you and your family, and I love that you are following me on Instagram right now. Woop woop.
