I do I do I do I do - Mike and Paul's Wedding at Bourne Farm
Mike and Paul were married June 4 with a ceremony and reception at Bourne Farm on Cape Cod.
Mike and Paul met through their love of Rugby. Both men played on their own teams, Mike played for a Boston team, and Paul was playing for a Stockholm, Sweden team, where he lived for 12 years. Two years ago they officially met at an international tournament.
Their first “date” was at Providence Pride, so it was a big celebration in general. Mike surprised Paul in their hotel room with purple and pink flowers (his favorite colors), wine, chocolates, and a blanket fort which they had been joking about for the couple months prior leading up to it.
They decided together that they wanted to get married, so they made ring shopping a joint activity. Paul got his ring right away (but didn't put it on), and Mike’s choice took longer. When they were on a trip across New Zealand, Sydney, and Japan, the jeweler called Paul and said that Mike's ring was ready. So, Paul had it shipped to Sydney and surprised Mike by proposing to him abroad!
Paul and Mike contacted me and we hit it off right away. One day before the wedding, we went for brunch and they made me try raw oysters for the first time. We laughed for what seemed like hours. I was thrilled they chose me. These two really knew how to have a good time and I was so excited to be able to go along for the ride!
The day of, my second shooter, Vanessa Walsh, and I met Paul and Mike at Bourne Farm in the early afternoon and photographed them setting up the finishing touches with their wedding party and a few friends while they waited for their guests to arrive on busses. Everyone mingled with the wedding party before the ceremony and then before we knew it, it was wedding time!
Their service was very moving where there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Then it was cocktails, and so much eating and dancing. Mike, Paul, and all their friends really know how to party! Trust me because the next day I felt like I was hit by a Mack Truck from all the dancing and laughing I did with them.
I have to call out the amazing dessert table, so many pastries. The cake itself was a mix of the American flag, A British flag, and a Swedish flag, as Paul lived in Sweden for many years, but is British by birth.
Mike and Paul, your wedding was beyond a party! It represented everything that love, friendship, and passion have to offer. I so value the friendship that has evolved as a result of this memorable day. I look forward to many years of hanging out in our future. Now about that move to Arlington!
