Nicole and Kilean's Medieval LARP Wedding at Three Sisters Sanctuary
Nicole and Kilean were married on September 16th, with a ceremony and reception at the Three Sisters Sanctuary in Goshen, MA.
Nicole and Kilean met at a 4-H Camp in Sturbridge at a LARP (Live Action Role Playing—think Renaissance faire meets Lord of the Rings) event in 2007. She thought he was “super hunky,” and she was playing the role of the “cute blonde” that his vampire character killed that night.
They started dating after that, and one night, Nicole came home super late after a long day at the office to find the entire apartment covered in candles. Kilean led her to the bedroom, and a little box with her ring was on the bed. He never actually asked her to marry him outright, but whenever Nicole teases him about that, he always responds the same way: “I didn’t have to.”
The day of, my second shooter, Vanessa Walsh, and I arrived at the Three Sisters Sanctuary, and I have to say—I absolutely loved the location! It was an artist’s dream! The venue is basically a full-on mixed media art installation run by an artist and his three daughters (hence the name “three sisters”!)
Nicole and Kilean had actually decided to get ready at the same cottage on the property, so once they were set to go, we met up for a first look and a few formals before the ceremony. There were a million places on the property to get in some creative shots, and we had a blast!
The actual ceremony itself stayed true to Kilean and Nicole’s passion for all things medieval and LARPing, and we kept that feeling going strong by sneaking off into the woods after they were married to play around some more with fun photography shots!
From there, it was time for serious dancing and an amazing dinner—where again, everything was exact to Nicole and Kilean’s vision of a medieval celebration! Nicole’s aunt makes wedding cakes as a hobby, and her mind-blowing creation was entirely edible, even with the hundreds of flowers. The two of them drank from wooden beer steins while they listened to the toasts, and I’m pretty sure I saw Kilean shed a tear or two when his sister sang to them. All the food was locally grown and organic, too. They had a ball!
Kilean & Nicole, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your amazing day. Your vision of how you wanted the day to go was so incredibly fun and unique, and I loved being able to capture it!
