Joanna and Roderick's Wedding at The Villa in East Bridgewater
Joanna and Roderick were married on May 15th with a ceremony and reception at The Villa at East Bridgewater.
Joanna and Roderick met through work—he was working at a medical supply company, and Joanna’s company dealt to Roderick’s. They would talk for hours every day placing orders, and before they knew it, they had become good friends. Roderick came up to Massachusetts to visit, and they just fell in love. Two years later, Roderick and his two sons moved up to New England, and they became an instant family.
Roderick proposed one night at the Tougas Apple Orchard with their friends, Ben and Arielle. Roderick distracted Joanna and showed her a green Ring Pop tied to an apple and tried to get her to pick it. (She refused and fought it because she thought some kid put it there, and she didn’t want to “get germy.”) She finally gave in, and when she turned around, Roderick was on one knee with the REAL ring!
On the day of the wedding, my second shooter, Vanessa Walsh, and I met the couple at the venue and did some getting ready and formal shots without either of them seeing each other before the ceremony.
The ceremony was so moving! Joanna and Roderick wrote their own vows and everything. And since Joanna is Jewish, there was the breaking of the glass—but not without the help of her new stepsons to step all over that, along with Roderick!
After the ceremony, we took formals, and Joanna kept everyone hysterically laughing the entire time. There is nothing like a couple that doesn’t take themselves seriously and really loves having fun, even during formals.
After the formals, it was time for some serious dancing—complete with a Hora and lots of lip-syncing to boot. Vanessa and I were cracking up the entire evening!
Thanks so much, Joanna & Roderick, for showing me how to party—because no one does it like the two of you! I loved every second of being with you and your families. I wish you both the best in your future together!
