Brendan and Ashley's Winter Elopement at Boston City Hall
Brendan and Ashley had a touching winter elopement on March 20th, with a ceremony at Boston City Hall and a small lunch afterward at the Kinsale Irish Pub. Ashley and Brendan had always planned to elope in Boston, and they contacted me about a month before they were headed down from their home in New York to see if I was available to tag along with them and about 15 of their friends. I asked them why they wanted to go to Boston when they could have just as easily gotten married in New York, and they said that they just LOVE it here and hope to make Boston their home sooner rather than later.
Now, if you know anything about last year’s winter here in Boston, you know I was only praying for two things for that wedding: 1) no snow; and 2) NO SNOW. And guess what? No snow that day! It was actually kind of sunny, though still quite chilly.
But Ashley and Brendan were totally up for braving the cold outside for some formals. I met them at Boston’s Downtown Hilton to take a few getting ready shots, and then we all headed over to City Hall. Ashley, Brendan and I went inside while their friends grabbed us a table at the Kinsdale.
City Hall was very busy that day, and it seemed like everyone wanted to get in on the action. I think everyone was just taking advantage of the non-snowy day. Ashley and Brendon said their “I do’s” short and sweet, and from there, we snapped a few formals around town and then met up with their friends for a drink.
Want to know a secret about this wedding? I was feeling under the weather the whole time! Nobody knew until I posted a photo on Facebook the next day of myself in the hospital with a full-blown case of pneumonia. But I got the job done, and Brendan and Ashley were totally worth it!
Brendan & Ashley, thank you so much for letting me be part of all the fun! I loved meeting you and getting to spend the day with you both. Congratulations!
