Camptown Races - James and Elise Whispering Pines Wedding

James and Elise were married on October 22nd, with a ceremony and reception at Whispering Pines.

These two met back on July 3, 2010. They were at a friend’s party when they started chatting, and Elise was impressed by what a fantastic listener James was, even when she was speaking candidly. A few days later, he invited her out for a dinner date in Boston. When she discovered his sarcastic sense of humor and how much he made her laugh, that was it. They both knew they wanted to pursue a relationship, so they started seeing each other more, even though Elise lived far away. After a few years, they eventually moved in together.

Then, in November 2015, when James was picking Elise up froma conference, she was surprised to find a rose on her car seat. More rose petals were laid out on the stairs of their home, with the final surprise of a bottle of champagne waiting for them on the table. He got down on one knee and proposed right there in their living room.

Fast forward to the wedding day where my second shooter, Vanessa Walsh, and I started out the rainy day under an amazing canopy. Whispering Pines had set this up to protect the couple as we shot formals and a first look. I was with Elise, while Vanessa was with James, before we met up and took full advantage of the entire Whispering Pines property for some pictures. The foliage was to die for!

The rain forced us to take a quick detour for the ceremony, so Elise and James were married under the porch. But that was lovely anyway, because it provided a full view of the lake that surrounds Whispering Pines. Then again, these two would look gorgeous anywhere.

After the ceremony, everyone was treated to the most amazing food, which was provided by the students at Johnson and Wales, the famous culinary school. The legendary Jungle/EDM DJ Dig Doug kept the party moving all night long, and we were all treated so well by the staff at the venue—because we were the last wedding at Whispering Pines!

Elise & James, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day. Everything about your wedding was just as lovely as the two of you, and I loved getting to set things off with a bang for Whispering Pines’ last wedding!
