Twist and Shout - Alexa's Temple Beth Elohim Bat Mitzvah
I was honored to be part of Alexa’s bat mitzvah on March 25th at the Temple Beth Elohim.
Her mother had contacted me about doing Alexa’s bat mitzvah after seeing my work that I had done for another girl’sevent, and the rest is history.
Alexa is a very strong young woman who knows exactly what she wants—and that is a good thing. She is an incredibly talented gymnast who loves great music and adores her family and friends. I mean, what more could I want in a subject for a bat mitzvah?
I brought my second shooter, Vanessa Walsh, with me for this amazing event. I started out at Alexa’s home before heading to the temple to shoot some “getting ready” photos and to help Alexa decompress before her service. The atmosphere in her home was relaxed and peaceful, which is great not only for me but for Alexa on such a momentous day.
We headed off to the Temple Beth Elohim to photograph a little practice with the Torah and some formals. I wasn’t allowed to photograph the actual service, but I did watch her from the back of the temple. Believe me when I tell you, she was incredible.
Her party immediately followed the service, and it was a blow out! The details were off the charts, thanks to their planners, Twist. The food was out of this world—but of course, with Max’s Catering in charge of that, what else would you expect? Everyone danced all night, and Alexa even demanded that the adults play a game of musical chairs. It was beyond fantastic!
Alexa, thank you for a truly amazing day. I love that you trusted me to be by your side and create memories for you and your family that you will look back on in 30 years and think, "Wow, I was a pretty cool kid."
